I've made quite a few bundt cakes in cast iron pans over the past few years, but only a couple of layer cakes.  This time I had instruction and assistance from my friend "J-ME", and the result was the best layer cake I've ever made, which may not be very much but I'm proud of how it turned out.  The cakes were made in vintage #6 size cast iron skillets, one Griswold and one Lodge.  (By coincidence, both of these pans date from the 1940s to 1950s.)  After slicing off the round tops of the cakes (and having some extra chocolate cake to nibble on), raspberry preserve and frosting were mixed together and spread between the two layers.  Then, a chocolate cream cheese frosting was prepared to decorate the cake.  This cake chilled in the refrigerator overnight to solidify.  The recipe for this cake can be seen on my Web site, Cast Iron Chaos, at: http://www.modemac.com/wiki/Chocolate...
