Thanks for tuning in.

Today, we are going to look at a traditional Japanese house that is half Edo and half Meiji.

Built with exceptional craftsmanship, crafted from the finest materials, and designed with fairly modern auto locking doors, and an engawa with a built in security system, the Kubota house has stood the test of time.

The first generation came to Hagi at the closing days of the Tokugawa shogunate from Omi province, near present day Shiga prefecture.

The founder of the Kubota family found success as a kimono merchant.

The second generation would turn to brewing and selling sake.

Renovated at a cost of over $3,000,000 dollars, the house was opened to the public.

Admission is 100 yen, and the house is open throughout the year.
