This is How to Belt - Part 1 in a 3 part series
1. What is Belt?
- Very loud and powerful sound
- Contains a degree of Edge in the sound
- Healthy belting has a good mix of both chest and head voice
2. In order to understand how to correctly belt, you need to understand the difference between all our vocal registers:
i) Chest voice: closest to our speaking voice. Lower part of range. Thicker tone.
ii) Head voice: characteristically thinner than chest voice. Higher part of the range.
iii) Mixed voice: blend of chest and head voice. Not just a head voice placed in the mask
Stay in tune for Part 2 - How to Belt where I will cover some practical exercises on how to access a healthy belt sound
