What are the labor laws for salaried employees? I'm Oklahoma Workers Rights Lawyer Colby Addison.

This is a difficult question to answer because salaried employee qualifications are broad. There are many exemptions that will apply or can apply if done so properly by the employer that would allow for them to pay your salary and avoid having to pay you overtime if you work in excess of 40 hours per week.

Whether or not you are considered a properly salaried employee, the employer must pay you at least $23,600 per year.

They must pay you on a salary basis, and you must perform exempt job duties. There are typically four criteria or four exemptions that are most commonly applied, although there are more.

It's typically whether you're an executive, a professional, such as a teacher or a lawyer or a doctor, or you're performing administrative tasks, or you're doing outside sales.
