Today we are going to review the 2024 released Gibson Kirk Hammett of Metallica Fame Signature 1989 Gibson Les Paul Custom. This is a (poor) recreation of his fabled '89 custom that he picked up during the ...And Justice For All Tour and used for Fade to Black live. He had his guitar tech "black out" the guitar's hardware and plastics to give it its signature look. Most people associate this guitar with EMG pickups but Kirk and Gibson created the version of this guitar that HE wanted TODAY. You'll be disappointed if you wanted a one-for-one 1989 Custom reissue, but if you go into it with the right mind-set, I actually really liked this guitar. It is technically the first Gibson Signature Metallica Les Paul (that made it to production) that didn't have other artists also associated with it.
