The alien plants of Socotra: a growing journey into weirdness and wonder

The island of Socotra in the Indian Ocean is home to some of the most utterly bizarre plants on Earth, swollen, monstrous things that look like they've been lifted straight from the pages of Dr Seuss, or a Salvador Dali painting. It is exactly these botanical oddities that I am striving to grow -- the caudex plants Dracaena cinnabari, Dorstenia gigas, Adenium socotranum and Dendrosicyos socotrana.
