Muhammad Ghazni broke the most sacred Hindu Temple of Chakra Swami in Thaneshwar, near Kurushetra. Located on the banks of River Saraswati, this temple was as sacred to Hindus as Mecca is to Muslims.
Muhammad Ghazni defeated king Anangpal and Destroyed many Temples. Ghazni was still not satisfied and wanted to destroy & loot the Chakra Swami Temple. Muhammad Ghazni ordered the Hindu King Anangpal to send his soldiers to help Muslim Army to destroy the Chakra Swami Temple. King Anangpal's brother requested Muhammed Ghazni to save Thaneshwar, Chakra Swami Temple. But Muhammad Ghazni wrote back that it is a Muslim's duty to destroy other's religion and to end idol worship from India.
Muhammad Ghazni broke the temple & broke the idol as well. Ghazni took the pieces of the idol and placed one piece on the steps of Ghazni Masjid. He destroyed the village, murdered people and took away women.
