I discovered a tiny green lizard while camping just yards away from the ocean front in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  This lizard, native to the southeastern United States, was miss-labeled by pet stores as a "chameleon".  Scientifically, the term Chameleon refers to a very different and specialized group of "Old World" Chameleons: Chamaeleonidae. However, like true Chameleons, the Carolina Anole (Anolis carolinensis) of this video can change its colors!  I explain the biology and life history of the Carolina Anole while showing vivid close-ups of this individual. I also describe their native range and habitat, what Carolina anoles eat, where they live, and how they climb - including close-ups of their feet.  I show you where this popular pet lizard, often sold in pet shops as a "chameleon" actually lives.
