There is little point in eating super-foods, if you do not look after your stress levels and don’t do any special mindful practice to support your digestive organs. One great time-tested tool for improving your digestion, absorption and elimination are Taoist breathing exercises, such as abdominal breathing and reverse breathing.

Taoist breathing helps to massage the internal organs, including the digestive ones, by contracting and expanding the diaphragms. This can help to stimulate the digestive system and increase the flow of blood, oxygen and Qi to the organs.

Breathing exercises also stimulate the production of digestive enzymes and improve elimination by promoting peristalsis ― the rhythmic contractions of the muscles in our digestive tract that move food and nutrients through our system.
