Stop-Motion Transformation of Cang Toys Thunderking. Amazing set. What a monster. You may note that I didn’t use the knee braces. I think it looks better without them and they don’t really help it stand any better than without them. The thing is just too top-heavy to really do crazy poses. This took multiple shoots over three days because of how long and arduous the transformation process was. You’ll note that this video finally includes the feet. I didn’t shoot these guys using a primordial, so there are some sequences that just don’t exist. For example, there is no Landbull robot mode to combined mode sequence, at least not without going through the animal mode. So I cheated a bit when splicing the necessary sequences together. My other combiners I have in production have all employed primordials, so those supercuts should be a bit more logical.

Production Note: Lot of work to do all the modes for the turn-arounds. Also shot the sequences for the feet/wolves. My internal code for this was “CT-10” since there are 9 animals and the combined mode is the 10th entity. Also I had a hideous kink in my neck so it was a real hoot shooting the whole thing today without moving my head. I decided to skip some sort of speed run because the video was long and pedantic enough as it was.
Viewing Note:
If you want to follow along, I recommend skipping to the speed run and using your , and . keyboard keys to advance by single frames. Every step of the transformation is documented in the frames of the video, in what I consider to be the best sequence. With minimal rubbing and minimal parts-parking.
