Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival 2022 | 2022 平溪天燈節

After two years of COVID cancellations, we finally got to go back to the Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival! This festival is one of the most famous and beautiful in Taiwan, lighting up the sky throughout the night with paper lanterns set afloat by hopeful attendees. Each person writes their wishes, hopes, and prayers on the lanterns and the lifts it to the heavens along with hundreds of people around them. Some people genuinely believe this to be a religious event of offering prayer to their gods, while others think it’s just a fun way to start off the new year. In our video today, we dive into how the Pingxi Sky Lantern festival actually started and what it means for us today.
