Wengen, one of the most beautiful mountain villages in Switzerland. Wengen is about 1300 m high lies above the Lauterbrunnen town and valley and it is a part of the Jungfrau region. A car-free town that can be acceible by the Wengernalpbahn from Lauterbrunnen to Grindelwald via Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg, making it the world's longest continuous rack and pinion railway or can be reached by hiking. It is a tourist resort for both winter and summer holidays. So you can visit it and enjoy the views, nature and activities all year round.
In today's tour we are going to walk through the town and exploring its beauty. The narrow streets, charming wood houses, and the awesome views of the Lauterbrunnen valley and the surrounding mountains. During the day of my visit there was a marathon which called a Jungfrau Marathon and is being held every September. It is described as the most beautiful marathon in the world passes through Interlaken - Lauterbrunnen - Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg with 42 km long to reach the 1829 m height with a participation of more than 4000 runners from more than 60 different nationalities. So you can also enjoy parts of the marathon during this tour and maybe considering to participate next year.
