Iranian couple filmed dancing in Tehran are jailed for ten years

An Iranian couple who filmed themselves dancing in the street have been jailed for ten years. Astiyazh Haghighi, 21 and Amir Mohammad Ahmadi, 22, appeared in a video where they danced in front of Tehran’s Azadi Tower. In defiance of the Islamic republic’s strict rules for women, Haghighi did not wear a headscarf. Women are not allowed to dance in public in Iran, let alone with a man.
