When installing a camera most times you have to check with the client on views and angles of the capture zones. Most of the time the cabling tech can use their experience or just common sense to understand how to point the camera in the general direction of the capture zone. Great tool to use once the camera is mounted is this tester. At times in "close quarters" you might have the camera pointing towards a doorframe and need to move it slightly. So with using a tester while installing on either a ladder or a lift, use this or something like it to help with speed. Speed meaning using the tester to see what the client or the NVR will capture. Typically on a camera installation of most jobs you mount the cameras and the client signs off on the views. In a larger job you can mount and then angle the camera once. Speed of the installation and for budget helps doing something once. Not going up ladders or moving lifts to location to make adjustments. This one tester is around $300 and saves time onsite. As well on service calls handy kit to figure out if the camera has been damaged.
