How to clear the poison gas clouds in 3 easy steps:
1) Ungroup from party with your main char
2) Throw a rock or other objects onto the vents to prevent them from blowing fumes
3) Disarm the vents manually, but they will always come back after a while.
Perhaps pop a poison resist potion to help.
