In this video Nikon Canada's Mark Cruz provides an overview of Nikon's newest HD-SLR, the D810A. Built specifically for stargazing and scientific applications the Nikon D810A is designed for astrophotography to capture deep sky photographs of stars and constellations.

The Nikon 810A has a modified infrared cut filter for the hydrogen alpha wavelength which gives it the unique ability to capture the diffuse nebulae in the night sky and create colourful, breathtaking celestial images. While it shares the architecture of Nikon's powerful high-resolution D810 HD-SLR, it has new features tuned to the specific needs of astrophotographers.

In addition to the optimized IR cut filter, a new Long Exposure Manual Mode to allow for exposures of 600 and 900 seconds (15 minutes). To assist astrophotographers even further, the D810A displays a new, brighter Live View image when shooting at shutter speeds long than 30 seconds, which helps simplify exposure and composition.
