Some History about the Bitlmore Hotel:
The hotel was built in 1926 by George Merrick, who is also the founder of Coral Gables. Coral Gables is an upscale neighborhood with a Spanish-Inspired style and look to it. The Biltmore was not always a hotel and was once a spot to host fashion shows, galas, golf tournaments, and water shows. It was once considered the tallest building in Florida and the biggest pool in the world.
During World War 2 the Government transformed the Biltmore into a military hospital for veterans. It eventually became a school campus for University of Miami and then in 1968 the Biltmore closed and became abandoned for 10 years and people would sneak in and talk about how the hotel was haunted.
Finally, in 1983 they spent $55 million to renovate and the hotel officially opened again in 1987. It is listed under the National Registry of Historic Places.

The infamous 13th suite (now called the Everglades Suite) used to be called the Al Capone Suite since Al Capone used to live there. During the Prohibition era the suite was a spot for gambling and a speakeasy joint for mobsters. Fatty Walsh was killed in the hotel during a gambling dispute and (they say) his spirit still resides in the hotel. Guests have reported seeing a woman in white in the hotel rooms and a dancing couple in the ballroom waltzing.
