Though Hana brought a lot of game, the 1983 Amelia Island semifinal was often reminiscent of the final there against Martina a few years prior... Chris could do no wrong, and won not only long strings of games, but long strings of points. With this match, Evert won her 48th straight set at Amelia Island by closing out the match from a 6-1 5-1 lead ~ after a valiant late effort by Hana which proved to be too late indeed ~ with Chrissie finally notching the victory 6-4. She met Carling Bassett in a dramatic nationally televised final, which can also be found on this channel.
