Alberta Health Services’ Connect Care

Alberta Health Services’ Connect Care is the recipient of the 3M Health Care Quality Team Award (Across a Health System).

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has embarked on a bold province-wide initiative, a new paperless way of using and sharing health information, to improve the quality of care provided to our patients. They are overseeing the distillation of more than 1,300 distinct clinical information systems, many of which do not share data, into a single provincial clinical information system, known as Connect Care. Patient safety also lies at the heart of this colossal project, which began the summer of 2017, with the first 'wave' of the system launched November 2019 at a large complex site that relied almost exclusively on paper processes.

The 3M Health Care Quality Team Awards recognizes innovation, quality, patient & family engagement, and teamwork. 3M Canada Company encourages institutions and healthcare providers to embrace quality management by developing innovative approaches that bring about sustainable improvement.
