Indonesia's Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, known locally as Whoosh, opened in October, instantly cutting travel time between the two cities from over three hours to just 40 minutes. The project is the first time China's entire high-speed rail system has been rolled out overseas, including its industrial chain. It marked 10 years of China and Indonesia's comprehensive strategic partnership. Part of the Belt and Road Initiative, Whoosh is already changing lives in this Southeast Asian nation, from business executives to hotel operators to motorbike riders. By December, the line had carried more than 700,000 passengers, bringing convenience and comfort. China's speed has introduced not only fast, reliable transportation to Indonesia but also many new avenues for economic growth.
