Can we ask for forgiveness from Allah for the dead and make dua for them? / Kerem Önder
* The alive benefits the dead through asking for forgiveness from Allah and prays for him - (Rewarding thawab)
* The Messenger of Allah buried a person and went to the grave and started to pray to Allah for him:
“O Allah, you are his Rabb. You created him, You guided him to Islam. You are the One who takes his soul. You know best about their secret and open states. We have come to mediate You to forgive him. Please, forgive him."
* The Messenger of Allah said: "The dead in the grave is like the person who is about to drown and wants help."
* Allah Ta'ala sends down mercy like mountains to the people of the graves from the prayers of the people of the world. If there is torment in the grave, it extinguishes the torment like water extinguishes the fire.
* Surely, the gift of the living to the dead is to offer forgiveness for them.
