The MSI Katana 15 features an Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 70 graphics card with 8 gigabytes of VRAM, resulting in impressive gaming performance metrics, especially for such a low-cost laptop. With its latest-generation graphics card, the Katana 15 easily outperforms the competition. We tested Elden Ring's performance on Nvidia's RTX 40-series cards to see how it compares. Although the display may be improved, this performance is truly a monster. At 2K resolution, the average frame rate is 50 to 55 frames per second.
The Katana 15 achieved 99 frames per second in our Borderlands 3 test at 1080 p resolution and highest graphic settings. Its performance improves much further with Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which runs at an average of 106 frames per second at 1080 p. Not only is this faster than the category average of 70 frames per second, but laptops like the Crosshair 15 and Dell G16 couldn't even match it. Although this laptop has won every game so far, it did not perform as well in Grand Theft Auto V, with 96 frames per second at 1080 p.
This is still an extremely powerful gaming performance from the laptop and would be extremely satisfying for users. After some time with the laptop's matte display, it's evident that the display is where the company shaved corners. This laptop not only has low display brightness and color depth, but it also lags far behind its competition but that does not take away from the stellar performance it provides.
