Inspired by the painting by Joaquín Sorolla, “Madre” translates into sounds the brightness that the painter uses to convey intense physical sensations and emotional climates. The painting depicts a mother and her newborn daughter resting in bed, between peaceful and restless dreams.
The light effects of the canvas are transposed into music through irregular rhythms and timbral contrasts, among which are discerned ancient Valencian popular themes of Muslim and Jewish origin.
As a result of continuously moving brightness, shadows are born, which solve into a mysterious dark sleep.
