In this video you will learn, as sitting in a virtual classroom, how to read a loom knit pattern & diagram for hooded wrap or hooded cowl. The first part of the class takes you through reading and understanding how the pattern is laid out. The pattern is broken down in in bite size chunks. The second part of class is a "Loom Along" working through the pattern knitting step by step to completion of the whole hooded wrap pattern courtesy of Leisure Arts. More loom knitting books to come and a separate review and GIVEAWAY will follow each in our series! Are you excited yet?!

Thank you Leisure Arts!

To change to size of your wrap:

1. Go back to minute 7:40 of the video and listen again to how the pattern knits up (see the diagram; buying the book to see the diagram and taking your own notes and measurements is the best for things like this; keep them in the book).  You are making the "right side" first meaning the right side of your body not just the correct side of the fabric.  See the diagram I point out.  You are working a rectangle.  You will want to measure how far around your body you want the wrap and this rectangle represents HALF of that number. If you use the same yarn as the pattern your gauge will generally be about the same but you can make a gauge swatch to be sure first (or go ahead knowing it could be a little snug or a little loose.). According to the patter it is 10 stitches per 4 inches.  So that is 2.5 stitches per inch.  Take your measurement (get someone to measure you at the larges part you want wrapped. divide that number in half. That is the total size you want your "right side" and also lastly the "left side" to be measured.  Now to get your cast on pegs you need to take that number and multiply times the stitches per inch (2.5). This is how many pegs you will need to cast on.

2. For the length of your wrap you will just need to continue your right side knitting until you reach that desire length.  Have someone measure from about your right collarbone, oven your right shoulder and down your arm to the length you want it to stop.  This will be the length you knit to and stop where the pattern says.

3. The hood size should still be good for adults but you could add maybe 5-6 stitches to be inside the marked off hooded area.  When binding off the right side stitches be sure you stop binding off where you intend the hood opening to be.

4. Continue working the hood, add a few rows if you want a longer hood, but not too many. Then add on the remaining stitches for the "left side" buy casting on to the number you figured out in step 1 above. Knit the same length as you did on step 2.  Last finish off the project as called out in the pattern and video.
