What is Gyoza:
are dumplings filled with ground meat and vegetables and wrapped in a thin dough, which is then sealed by pressing the edges together. Also known as pot stickers, gyoza originated in China (where they are called jiaozi), but have become a very popular dish in Japan.
Prep Time: 30 mins
Cook Time : 30 min
Ingredients:
1 package gyoza wrappers
1 Tbsp Olive Oil or vegetable, canola, etc (fry by batch of gyoza)
1/4 cup water (for each batch of gyoza)
1 tsp sesame oil (for each batch of gyoza)
Filling:
400 g ground pork 2-3 leaves cabbage
3-4 green onion/scallion
2 shiitake mushrooms or any kind of mushrooms if Shiitake is not available 2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 inch ginger (fresh, grated)
Seasonings: 1 tsp sake 1 tsp soy sauce 1 tsp sesame oil 1/4 tsp salt ground black pepper
Dipping Sauce: 1 Tbsp rice vinegar 1 Tbsp soy sauce 1/8 tsp chili oil (optional)
