EDC Festival 2013 - Ländler

This demonstration dance was contributed to the 2013 EDC Festival by the Quadrille Club. Here we have "Neue Wiener Ländler" to the music of Joseph Lanner, recreating the romance of early 19th Century Vienna, a time before the golden era of the Viennese Waltz. This folk dance from Bavaria and the Alps of Austria became one of the most fashionable Viennese couple dances. The Ländler is characterised by its hopping steps, twirling hand and arm movements, and its lilting triple time signature. Thanks to S. Marsden.
