Welcome back to my channel. Today I’ll be showing you my take on one of my favorite Dominican snacks, tarts. This is a flaky pastry made with a short crust pastry dough. Many shy away from pastries but I’ll be showing you an easy to follow method.
INGREDIENTS: (DOUGH)
2 cups flour
1 cup cold butter(cubes or grated)
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg yolk(room temp)
4-6tbsp cold water
INGREDIENTS: (PRUNE FILLING)
2 cups prunes
1 - 1 1/2 cup water
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
OTHER INGREDIENTS:
1 egg yolk (egg wash)
1 tbsp water (egg wash)
Guava Jam or jelly
Recipe makes 12 tarts
Bake at 400• for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown
Allow tarts to cool before removing from pan
If butter begins to melt or dough becomes too soft between steps, place in fridge for 5-10 minutes.
