Master of Wine: TRADER JOE’S Albariño

In this video, Bob Paulinski Master of Wine discusses the new release of the 2023 Ruta 49 Albarino from Rias Baixas, Spain. It sells for $9.99 per bottle. This a brand created exclusively for Trader Joe's by Vina Cartin. The wine is pale in color, with a pale youthful appearance. Wonderful, bright, fresh, although quite simple aromatics, medium-bodied, zesty acidity, with citrus, peach and apricot notes. It shows good purity and brightness from start to finish. I recommend this wine, it hit the mark in terms of being true to type. In terms of value, it's excellent. For $10, you'll be hard pressed to find a worthwhile Albarino for the same money. I don't know if the Albarino will be an ongoing, everyday stocked wine at TJ's, but the importer noted it's selling very well early on. Serve well chilled.
