On Saturday 29th June 2024 Steamrail Victoria visited the Belgrave Line in Melbourne's outer eastern suburbs for a series of steam & electric shuttles between Ringwood and Belgrave with steam locomotive K153 and the Tait EMU. The Belgrave Line is rather scenic, particularly beyond Ferntree Gully as the line transverses through the Dandenong Ranges with section of windy single track in deep bushland.

In this video we see the train at various locations along the line on what was a rather cold winters day with non-stop rain. We start trackside at Boronia where we see K153 lead the first trip towards Belgrave, before seeing the Tait  through the tunnel under Boronia and Dorset Road. We then see a couple of clips around Ferntree Gully including trankside and at the station, before seeing the train arrive and depart Belgrave. Afterwards we see the train again at Tecoma and Upwey, before finishing up at Heatherdale at the end of the day with the transfer back towards Flinders Street and Newport.

The days' outing was the first time a heritage train has visited the Belgrave Line since May 2022 after the previous steam shuttles with K183 & K153 (back then masquerading as K100) were cancelled after one of the carriages made contact with an overhead stanchion on the first shuttle trip. As the day was incomplete I decided to finish this video by including the two clips I filmed of K183 & K100 that day at Tecoma and Upwey.
