Canva is beneficial to YouTube Content Creators because you can use it to create green screen graphic captions for your videos. One of my favorite projects to create for Canva Tutorials by Like It Or Not is to create Green Screen Captioning which can be applied in OpenShot or ShotCut through Chroma Key filter. Let's discuss how to create green screen overlay for our videos! It's so customizable depending on your creative brand.

We go over how to create a green screen video screen label, but also how to add a video in a circle frame to create a picture in picture look as well.  We demonstrate adding the chroma key filter in both OpenShot & ShotCut which are both a free open source video editor available on multi platforms.

I used black as my green screen background color which works for me in the labels, but it really is best to use that default green color (which might be #04F404, but it could be a variance of that hue in different programs).

It’s time for a field trip outside the Creator Classroom to few two free open source video editors.  I didn’t just want to share with you how to create the PNG or MP4 file without showing you how I put them into the programs I use for video editing.  I use both OpenShot & ShotCut, but these tecniques should be applicable for many other video editing programs including imovie, davinci resolve & so much more.  You can find out how by searching the term green screen and your video editor to find other tutorials on how to insert the image or extra green screen video into your project.  This would be beneficial for a multitude of reasons, but I imagine a tutorial channel, a gaming channel or even vlogs referencing an older video would find this helpful.

I used OpenShot exclusively from 2019 until April 2021 when my computer really became bogged down (I have a really old laptop with not a lot of space) while using it so I began looking for other editing solutions.  I tried a couple of options, but they were all so complicated for me that I gave up trying until I found ShotCut.  There are several features that I enjoy  including how easy it is to make transitions and how many transition options there are between clips.  I took time off from Canva for 6 weeks so that I could learn ShotCut on by focusing on creating content for my other channel (like it or not – aka likeitornotyt).  Once I felt comfortable with the program, I came back to this channel with a new passion for teaching because editing has become a bit faster.

VIDEO EDITOR INFO:

OpenShot | you can find information on Open Shot through openshot.org – it is a multi platform open source (aka FREE for all you frugal viewers) program that is very basic, but can be used to do more advanced things as well.  There are tons of free tutorials on YouTube explaining the complexities of OpenShot in an easy way. However, Jonathan Thomas is the creator of OpenShot and you can find tutorials on his channel.  jonathanthomasoss

ShotCut | you can find information on Shot Cut through shotcut.org – I’ve been using ShotCut since the middle of April.  There are also tons of free tutorials on YouTube explaining how to use the video editor that can explain it way better than I can at this time, but ShotCut’s YouTube Channel is @shotcutapp

I shared both of the main YouTube channels for both programs, but I wanted to also share with you my favorite channel and how I discovered ShotCut in the first place.  geekoutdoorsbrand
