Wyatt, Emily and Pablo are all UNI students who have one thing in common – they are all transfer students who came to the University of Northern Iowa from another college. Although each of them came from a different institution and chose a different major, they all found the transfer process to UNI to be easy. Find out more about their experiences and consider if you could see yourself transferring to UNI just like them!
A major reason why the transfer process was so seamless for these transfer students is they received the assistance of UNI transfer admissions counselors. These staff members are ready and available to answer questions, provide resources and be a listening ear when you are having doubts about transitioning to a new institution.
UNI has numerous opportunities to help students transition to their new home with ease, too. For some students, like Pablo, that experience starts with Jump Start, which is an extended orientation program. All students also have the chance to attend Welcome Week during the first week of classes where they can engage with fellow transfer students as well as incoming freshmen and returning students. Meeting people through these events can help you form meaningful relationships that will last well beyond your college career.
For transfer students, Wyatt believes it’s especially important to utilize the free resources that are available at the University of Northern Iowa. This could mean emailing the admissions office or visiting the campus in person while you’re still deciding where to transfer schools. Choosing what college to transfer to is a big decision, and the more information you gather before making that decision, the better!
