Treasure: something of great worth or value
Last week, singer-songwriter Hayden Sammak of the indie rock band Deadfellow (now podcast engineer with MeatEater) dropped me a message. He said he was in northeastern Pennsylvania recording demos for his new album and wanted to take a break to do some fly fishing. He explained he’d stumbled onto a true blue-line brook trout stream (not surveyed by the state) a couple weeks prior and wanted to show it to me. I met Hayden in a remote parking lot at 7 AM the next morning and we made the short hike into the stream. We spent the day hiking upstream catching many good-sized wild brook trout. We both fish lightweight 7’ rods and used various dry fly patterns, including some large Green Drake patterns.
