Identifying which Gibson The Protector "Chainsaw" case you have can seem tricky at first, but it is quite easy to do. Quite simply - Gen 1 and 2 are very similar cases. The way to tell them apart is to look at how many factory latches there were. If there are 2 - congrats! You have a rare Generation 1 Chainsaw case - if there are 3 - Congrats! You have the best most protective case that was ever made!
If you have 3 metal latches, you have a Generation 3. If your case doesn't have any padding to it - it is the dreaded 'honorary' Generation 4. If your case fits an acoustic guitar... well, you have a very rare Flattop Chainsaw Acoustic case - let's call it Generation '5' for fun.
If your latches (plastic or metal) break, there are replacement available through the seller Bennett Labs on Reverb/eBay. You can buy them using the links at the beginning of this description!
