Media Tycoon Byron Allen Reportedly P...
Byron Allen just set a new real estate record, with his purchase of an ultraluxe compound in Malibu, CA. Allen paid $100 million for the coastal estate from self-storage magnate Tammy Hughes Gustavson. That's the most ever paid for a home by an African-American buyer in the U.S., according to the Wall Street Journal. Allen's purchase is one of the most expensive homes ever sold in Malibu and it's also pretty incredible that he's African-American: no other African-American buyer has ever paid so much for a home in Malibu, according to the Los Angeles Times. Gustavson’s late father, B. Wayne Hughes, who co-founded Public Storage, paid about $20 million for the property in 2003, the Journal notes.
