Cebu is one of the most developed provinces in the Philippines with Metro Cebu being the second-largest metropolitan area in the Philippines.
It really is possible to live in Cebu for $1,000 a month.
So how much does it cost to live in Cebu?
Coming up I’ll show you what these budgets look like in IT Park and Cebu Business Park, two of Cebu’s most popular destinations for expats, retirees, and location-independent entrepreneurs.

Best Neighborhoods
There are several developments in Cebu that are considered “trendy” or “cool” and these are usually located near commercial centers and have easy access to everything.
Cebu IT Park - has first-world standards like sidewalks, proper-sized roads, coffee shops, restaurants, condos, and a new mall.
Many employees in the IT Park area work at business processing companies and call centers servicing the United States and Europe. Workers are coming on and off of shifts around the clock so many restaurants are open 24hours a day. With this, there is a well-educated, group of English-speaking professionals in the area making it an easy place to make Filipino friends.
Cebu Business Park (CBP) is home to several multinational businesses, residential condos, hotels, and the Ayala Center shopping mall, which draws 85,000 visitors on an average day.
CBP is the single largest urban development project in the Philippines outside of Manila.
Calyx Residences are located in the residential enclave of the Cebu Business Park, two blocks away from Ayala Center Mall it is home of Cebu’s first high-rise rooftop infinity swimming pool on the 28th floor offering a panoramic view of the channel, the city harbor and the mountains surrounding Cebu.

Here’s a breakdown of what you might find in Cebu:
Simple Apartment: $300 – $500. USD
Starting around $300 USD you can find a good quality studio apartment in a good location. At this price, you can often find air conditioning, decent furniture, 24/7 security and maybe even some other amenities like cable, wifi, and a swimming pool.

Nice Apartment:  $600 - $1,000 USD
Between $600 and $1,000 you can find quality one- and two-bedroom apartments that may have a gym, swimming pool, 24/7 security, included cable and wifi and other amenities.

And for about $6 a day you can hire a cleaner to clean your place.

Monthly Overheads
When it comes to utilities, electricity can be expensive if you run your AC a lot.
Basic Utilities (Electricity, Heating, Cooling, Water, Garbage) $120.
Internet  $30 - $50.
Smartphone service will be another $15.
Fitness Club, Monthly Fee for 1 Adult $40. - $50.  
However, a personal trainer may be as little as $3 per hour.

Food Costs in Cebu
Local food can be tasty and very affordable and a meal at a local restaurant will often cost less than $3. and a meal at a western-style restaurant will often cost between $5 and $10.

Western-style supermarkets with imported goods from around the world are available although prices can be high. If you shop at the local markets and stick to Filipino food brands and local fruits and vegetables you can spend less than $200 per month for all your meals. Buying at the open-air markets is the most economical way to shop.

Getting Around Cebu
Jeepneys are the cheapest mode of transportation and most major roads and destinations are covered Buses are also available on main routes. These rides may cost you as little as twenty cents. Metered taxis and Grab are the most comfortable options while motorbike taxis are a cheap, fast option during heavy traffic.
A taxi ride from Cebu IT Park to Cebu Airport (CEB) will cost about ₱210 - ₱260 or about $5 USD. A taxi between Cebu Business Park and IT Park cost about ₱90 or $2USD.

Travel from Cebu
Cebu is a great place to base out of for traveling around and exploring the Philippines. Ferry transportation is convenient and the airport is easy to get in and out of, and has flights to many locations.

Healthcare costs in Cebu
Healthcare in Cebu is so affordable that many expats don’t take out health insurance, and instead pay for treatment on a case by case basis. The cost of a visit to the doctor is about $12 USD. If you prefer health insurance, PhilHealth is a government-subsidized option that is available for foreign immigrants and citizens. It will cost about 17,000.00₱, less than $350 USD per year. There are also private options from companies like Bupa and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
