Inside Outside: Building a meaningful life after the hospital

I worked with ex-patient filmmaker Terry Strecker to create Inside Outside. We got (very limited) funding to make the film via a grant under the U.S. Olmstead Decision where the Supreme Court ruled that detaining folks in institutions longer than "necessary" was a form of segregation based on disability. The film depicts 8 people as they make their way from long term institutionalization to a life in the community. We didn't have digital options back in the late 1990's so shot the film on mini-VHS C and edited it between two VHS players. Sound was mastered by a friend who had a Mac with enough processing power.
