Recorded to help students prepare their pieces. Not a perfect performance and audio just from the camera mic but should be useful as a reference when learning the tune. Don’t get a huge amount of time to prepare and play these pieces when I'm busy with gigs/recording etc so it’s not always possible to nail the performance in the 30 mins I allow myself to learn the tune and do the take. I actually think it’s not a bad idea that everything isn’t perfect for these videos, means that students really engage with the written part to try and spot anything that differs slightly. Also shows I’m a musician - not a machine, and the world of being a working musician often involves doing the very best job you can in the time you have available, it can’t always be perfect. Indeed perfectionism can be a dangerous habit! Our job above all else is to make the music feel great and if we’re playing a prescribed part, like in the Grade tunes, to stay true to the feel of it and play in an authentic way. Also I’m aware that my big ginger jaw is obscuring some of the ride playing here, ha sorry!
