Is Beryllium something out of Star Trek? Check out this 1975 Schilke a2 Cornet Show and tell! #acb
Hey everyone!
As we are winding down our holiday season here at ACB I thought I'd do a quick show-and-tell on this wonderful playing Schilke cornet from 1975! I'm a bit partial to that year as I'm as old as this cornet although the cornet's in better condition then I am for sure.
This one has that cool Beryllium bell that Schilke offered in the 70's. A Copper blend with a small percentage of the alloy that unfortunately is no longer available to use in musical instrument manufacturing. The result of that bell is a super projecting horn with a very unique feel behind the horn as well.
I'm always tweaking the studio so please pardon a few times where the mic cut out when I was switching from the ribbon to the external camera mic. I keep trying to dial in the settings here for better quality videos. It's getting closer!
I used two ACB Cornet mouthpieces for this demo:
1.25-B (a bit deeper than the Wick B Cups) in silver plate
3CS-A (an extremely deep and rich mouthpiece) in gold plate.
