LAS LEANDRAS (pasodoble) / Banda Simfònica d'Algemesí

"Los nardos", sometimes known as "Por la calle de Alcalá", first of its stanzas, is a song that forms part of the Spanish musical magazine "Las leandras", released in 1931.

At the rhythm of a parade or pasdoble, it is one of the most popular themes of the zarzuela Las Leandras. The song has become part of the collective imagination of the folkloric list with which the city of Madrid is identified, with allusions in the lyrics to the central street of Alcalá, where a florist sells her goods to young knights in love.

The Banda Sinfónica d'Algemesí performs the pasdoble Las Leandras (Los nardos), by Francisco Alonso López, in the Member's Concert held on February 4, 2023 at the Municipal Theater of Algemesí.
