Hair stylists often find themselves tired, having trouble building their book, and struggling with debt. Check out this video for easy tips anyone can do to build success in the salon! All 7 habits in the description below! So what are the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Hair Stylists? 1. Set the tone in your consultation with a high level of confidence. REALLY LISTEN to your client. Make sure you clearly understand what they want, and be transparent about what is possible in one session. Always be dressed for success. You're a beauty professional and need to look the part to have credibility. 2. Stop gossiping. Clients can sense negativity in a salon, and they won't come back if they don't feel comfortable. Mutual respect with your clients, fellow stylists, your boss, or your employees starts with the golden rule. If you're a leader, or want to be a leader, you need to lead by example by creating a positive environment. 3. Always be educating yourself. This industry changes CONSTANTLY, and if you aren't up to date on the latest techniques, or produce poor quality work from not knowing 100% what you're doing, you won't get returning clients. 4. Tardy = Tacky. Always be early so you're always on time! Even if a client is consistently late, showing up on time shows respect for them and their time. You can always lose business by being late, but you'll never lose business being on time. 5. Build your clients up. Always be a positive force in your clients lives. Take care to empathize and relate to them. You're not just a robot doing their hair, you're a person they are committing hours of their lives to spending time with. If you want them to come back, they need to feel trust and comfort with you. 6. Stop saying yes to EVERYTHING. You don't have to say yes to negative people. You don't have to say yes to squeezing people into your schedule if you can't deliver a quality service, or if it negatively impacts your other clients. Only say yes if it takes care of you! 7. Know your worth. You are a professional, and you deserve to be paid. Don't discount someone unless there is a purpose. This also means valuing yourself by taking care of your mind, body, and spirit so you are at your best and ready for anything every time you step behind the chair.
