Cathedral Choir Isle of Man perform the Ascension hymn at the Great Laxey Wheel

Cathedral Choir Isle of Man ascend the great Laxey Wheel to perform the Ascension hymn ‘Hail the day that sees him rise’ followed by prayers by Dean Godfrey for our Island nation.

Ascension Day is traditionally celebrated on the sixth Thursday after Easter Sunday, when choirs ascend their church towers to sing, to be ‘closest to heaven’.  

With the cathedral tower not currently accessible, this year 10 of the cathedral’s choristers, Dr Peter Litman and the Dean, Very Revd Nigel Godfrey did something quite different!
