The question asked here was- Which mantra should one chant? The guru mantra or some other mantra towards which one is drawn like the bijaakshar or a Devi mantra?
Om Swami says that one cannot chant the guru mantra twenty-four hours. Guru mantra is the mantra given by the guru when one is initiated and not the one with which one remembers their guru. If a person is drawn towards some other mantra then they can chant that but they should chant the guru mantra at least for five minutes in a day as it’s good for the soul. He says, attainment on the path is possible only through the guru mantra and that has been his personal experience. It is assumed that the guru knows which mantra suits a disciple, but in case a mantra has been given by a guru while he was just sitting and one still feels drawn towards some other mantra, then they can adopt that. He says mantras have sound, and sound moves in waves and causes vibration. The sound, which makes a person flow should be adopted by them.
When a guru gives a mantra, the silent energy of the whole lineage is in it. When somebody fails to follow the given instructions, they are disrespecting the age-old tradition. They should either completely break away from the tradition or totally embrace it. And when one walks the path with purity and complete sincerity then everything becomes possible says Om Swami.
