As for the Y cable. Many TS wired female ends will work as they are ground compatible, this cable sold on Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com is sold to do the exact same thing with two RODE Wireless Gos, which are wired TRS normalised/bridged mono for their output just as the VideoMicros are in my setup:

How To Connect Two Microphones To A GoPro - Using The Media Mod Or The GoPro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter

In this video I'm showing one way to connect two microphones to a GoPro Hero Action Camera.

In this instance I'm showing the GoPro Media Mod using its mic input which works for the GoPro Hero 8 Black.

I'm also showing the GoPro 3.5mm Mic Adapter, which will work with the GoPro Hero 8 Black, GoPro Hero 7 Black, GoPro Hero 6 Black, GoPro Hero 5 Black and also the GoPro Hero5 Session.

All of these GoPro Action Cameras are capable of recording stereo audio via the external microphone input. This means that you are recording two tracks, or channels, left and right. You can use the left channel as channel 1 for one microphone and use the right channel or track 2 for the second microphone.

The important part of this setup is the Y Cable that allows the two mics to be connected to the GoPro external microphone sockets from either the Media Mod or the Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter.

You can use this method for recording a combination of different microphones. You could have vlogging microphones such as the RODE VideoMicro, as shown in my wiring example. You can use two lavalier microphones or a combination of either.

This type of microphone setup will enable you to record two people for interviews or two people vlogging, or any dialogue recording scenario where you need two microphones. You can also use this setup for stereo recording using a matched pair of microphones for things such as atmos recording, wild track recording or indeed any type of stereo recording.

With this video I didn't go into things such as AGC or dynamics processing, limiting etc. which the Gopro may apply, which will effect the recording. I talk about this stuff in other videos and will do an in-depth video about it in the future.

You can also record two microphones as two discreet channel, or a stereo mic, from an external mixing console. In this instance you would switch the GoPro's Media Mod or Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter to line level input, which will give a better recording free of the usual GoPro dynamics processing and it would allow you to properly set two independent record levels.

All cabling in this setup was TRS 3 pole, tip ring sleeve. At the GoPro end its 3.5mm female jack socket is wired TRS, with tip or pole 3 being channel 1, or left, live. Ring or pole 2 being channel 2, or right, live and sleeve or pole 3 being the common ground. Ground may also be called shield or earth.

As mentioned in the video here is another one of my videos showing two different microphones being recorded simultaneously with my GoPro Hero 8 Black and the GoPro Media Mod, this will work exactly the same with the GoPro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter and the Heroes 7, 6, 5 blacks and the 5 session
