In this way, the king ordered that festivities be organized in the village in honor of the virgin on the 15th of August of each year, a tradition that has been maintained to this day. During the Napoleonic invasions, four forts were built that integrated the Lines of Torres, contributing to the defense of the capital. In terms of gastronomy, the municipality of Arruda dos Vinhos has about two dozen restaurants and snack bars, where you can taste a little bit of everything, from the different dishes of cod and fish, to grilled meats, with an abundance of still a confectionery, not exactly local, but somewhat characteristic, either of the saloia region or of a Ribatejo that insists on making itself known, even through the landscape over the Tagus River, whose meandering is visible from some points of the county.
