Sony UBP-X800 4K UHD Blu Ray Player: Why, Sacrifices, Benefits, Pesky Defaults, And No Dolby Vision

I've been reviewing some higher priced items lately, and I've always been a fan of high value/lower priced equipment.

The Sony represents a reasonable step up for someone looking to get into 4K, but aren't ready to spend the money on the Oppo. Even though the Sony doesn't play Dolby Vision at this point, and my TV supports it, I wanted to see if it was a solid player.
As I said, Dolby Vision is very nice indeed, and I would really like it if Sony decided to add it to this player. I don't think it's impossible, and it would make a pretty smart buy a pretty brilliant buy.
It's not like HDR is low quality. I couldn't blindly walk into a room, at least not at this point, and tell you whether it's Dolby Vision or HDR on the TV. I can tell a difference if I A/B, but it's not dramatic. That said, we all want the best of the best, and not having Dolby Vision will hurt sales.
I do want to point out that I think the Oppo 203 is a quality player, and I'm not trying to suggest the Sony is superior, other than offering streaming right now.
The fact is, not everyone can afford to get all of the equipment they desire. I'm trying to determine how good the Sony is, and whether it's worth it for someone to take the leap from regular Blu Ray to 4K.
