This is Part 2 and the finish of showing step by step how to make heavy duty roller stands! These stands will be used in our machining area to support long jobs that go through the spindle headstock of the lathe. We already have a stand but it’s not very functional so we’re making something better. To make these stands we are using steel plate, solid bar, hollow bar, roller wheels and a few other bits and pieces. In this video we show the assembly and welding of the stand which involves cutting & grinding parts to fit. We machine up pins that hold the roller wheels in place before griding and prepping the stands for paint. We give the stands a coat of primer and then paint them before we finish assembling and then test how the stand works with supporting a big rod in the lathe! How do you think these roller stands turned out!?
