New hot tub owners often wonder how often they are supposed to drain and refill their hot tub. In this video, we get into how often to do that, and some of the things you can do to extend the life of your hot tub water.

It's an Amazon's Choice product with loads of 4 and 5-star reviews. While you can just hook up a garden hose to drain it, that can sometimes take 2-3 hours.
Also, don't just drain it on your lawn or near trees/gardens. The chlorine/bromine and other chemicals in your water can be harmful. Ideally drain it towards an inconspicuous area of your yard, and away from the foundation of your house (this is hundreds of gallons of water, after all).

When I do change my water, I also make sure to use Oh Yuk! Hot Tub Cleaner which is AWESOME for removing bacteria build-up and other crud known as biofilm from your plumbing system.
Just pour it in before you change the water. Turn on the jets and get it circulating. Then just drain, clean, and refill.
You'll find that not only does it extend how long you can go before the next change, you will also use less chlorine or bromine sanitizer and shock also, saving you money on ongoing chemicals for your hot tub.
