The XPT (short for Express Passenger Train) is the main regional train fleet operated by NSW TrainLink, connecting Sydney with Dubbo, Grafton, Casino, Brisbane and Melbourne.

Entering service in 1982, the Express Passenger Train presented a significant step forward in Australian rail travel, and is based off Britain's High Speed Train (HST), also known as the InterCity 125.

The XPT is Australia's equal fastest train in terms of maximum service speed, running at 160 km/h. It ties in this regard with the Tilt Train, Vlocity and Prospector trains. It hold a record speed of 193 km/h and was designed for a theoretical maximum speed of 200 km/h.
