So here is a short compilation of vintage aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) along with some skydivers - all seen over the Cathedral City of Lincoln.

We start with a pair of World War Two fighters - a Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane doing flybys over our back garden, followed by the last remaining airworthy Avro Lancaster bomber still flying in the UK (one other flies in Canada).

Then we switch to a small plane flying over the city - after a couple of passes I suddenly spotted parachute jumpers and shot for a few minutes as they glided down to the ground. Quite a spectacle 😍 and spot the random pigeons and some pretty good crepuscular rays too :)

Although the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) is based near to Lincoln at RAF Coningsby, it's not all that often that the aircraft fly over the city of Lincoln itself.

A total of 14,533 Hurricanes were built, but at the end of the Second World War, remaining Hurricanes were quickly retired from service as the rapid progression of aircraft design and capabilities had effectively rendered them obsolete. The vast majority were scrapped. Sadly, today, there are only 12 Hurricanes still airworthy worldwide, and only 6 of those in the UK. The BBMF is proud to operate two of these historically important and rare aircraft.
