The luxurious 5-star resort Alila
The luxurious 5-star resort Alila Villas Uluwatu is located in the south of Bali, high above the sea. The breathtaking view and the modern, open architecture combined with unparalleled comfort make it one of the best hotels in Bali.
The Alila Villas Uluwatu is located on the south coast of the Balinese Bukit Peninsula, near the famous Uluwatu Temple. The Alila hotel chain was founded in Indonesia and is now part of Hyatt. The resort sits on a cliff plateau 150 m above the sea with a breathtaking view of the coast, the endless sky and the deep blue ocean. As soon as we arrive, we can hardly tear ourselves away from the view through the foyer over the palm-lined pool to the sea.
The open architecture integrates perfectly into the landscape. The interior design is inspired by Balinese culture. Clear shapes and natural materials such as rattan, stone and wood determine the appearance. The hotel was designed by the award-winning architecture firm WOHA from Singapore, which is committed to sustainable design. And the hotel also meets high environmental standards, for example through water treatment and waste avoidance.
Our room category is "Panoramic One Bedroom Pool Villa" with a spacious 290 m². Approximately 79 m² are used for the interior. The room is very comfortably furnished and the open bathroom leaves nothing to be desired. The room opens onto the terrace with our private pool. From the cabana at the end of the terrace you have a wide view over the complex and the sea. A perfect retreat with plenty of privacy in paradisiacal peace!
The two restaurants The Warung and CIRE provide the culinary delights. The Warung serves excellent Balinese and Indonesian dishes, while the slightly more upscale CIRE is based on western cuisine. Breakfast is served in the CIRE. In addition to the usual standards, the menu also includes unusual breakfast specialties from all over the world. The "Batique Whiskey & Cigar" bar offers rare whiskeys and cigars. And in the Sunset Cabana Bar you can enjoy the sunset with a delicious cocktail.
The 50 m long infinity pool right on the cliff is breathtakingly beautiful. It is considered one of the most beautiful hotel pools in the world. A photo of the pool and the sunset cabana hanging over the cliff has been featured in many travel magazines.
There is also a very well-equipped gym. The spacious spa offers fantastic treatments, with the care products being made exclusively in Bali. We didn't use either of them, however. And last but not least, we must also mention the perfect, friendly service, which did everything to make our stay unforgettable.
It is a short hike from the hotel high above the sea to the beach. There are 600 steps to climb. You should take the tide calendar into account, as the beach is only accessible at low tide. But the effort is rewarded. The wild surf is fascinating and the secluded beach is one of the most beautiful in Bali.
We liked this:
- The fantastic pool with the incomparable view of the ocean
- The spacious villa
- The hike through the jungle to the secluded beach
We didn't like this so much:
- In the CIRE restaurant, the expectations are higher than the result
- Our stay was to mark a milestone birthday. Unfortunately, the hotel didn't notice the birthday, even though the birth dates were requested at check-in. Otherwise, in such cases, there are congratulations and a small gift from the hotel.
Our conclusion:
The best hotel in Bali during our trip and one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever visited.
